Johnny Seven - One Man Army (OMA)

Further to a conversation in the pub… here is a link to the best toy gun ever invented.

OMA

I bought mine from a junk shop when I was about 10. It was missing most of the cool bits, but even in its diminished state, I still knew a brilliant toy gun when I saw one.

Never saw anything like this in leafy North Somerset when I were a lad. Space Dust was about the most fun I ever had. Think I’ve still got a packet somehwere, I must scan it…

I’d forgotten all about this worderful piece of toy equipment until I heard it mentioned on a TV show a couple of months ago. I was the only child in my street to have one of these and spent hours in the garden trying to devise ways of knocking things over with it. I doubt they even be on sale in todays P.C. conscious society. I know realise that I grew up during the “cold war” when annihilation by a nuclear bomb seemed like a very real possibilty especially when you saw people on TV building nuclear shelters to hide in. I lived/live near Portsmouth and was forever being told that the city would be a major target.
